Hunger Games Chapter 2 Comprehension Questions

1. How does Katniss save her sister from the reaping?
Katniss saves her sister from the reaping by volunteering to take her place.

2.  Who is the boy tribute selected? How did he save Katniss life when she was 11?
The boy tribute selected was Peeta Mellark. When Katniss was 11,  Peeta saved her life by giving her burned bread from the bakery. Peeta had purposely burned the bread to give to her, even though he knew he was going to get introuble. He saved her and her family from starvation.

3. What kind of person do you think Peeta is? What evidence from the book led you to come to this conclusion?
I think Peeta is a very kind & nice. He seems generous and caring. You can tell from when the story tells of how he saved Katniss's life. He sacrificed himself giving her bread, not even knowing who she really was. He was well punished after. So that tells alot of him. Risking himself for her life.

4. Why does seeing the dandelion after her fathers death give Katniss hope?
After seeing the dandelion after her fathers death gave Katniss hope because it brought back memories of the hours spent in the woods with her father and knowing they would survive. Seeing the first dandelion of the year reminded her that she was not doomed.
